St Nicolas provides the Christian focal point in the village, with services held each Sunday throughout the year.
It is known that a religious building has been on the site since Norman times, with all vicars since 1481 being recorded in the church.
In 1987, Chute became part of the Wexcombe team of churches (including Burbage, the Collingbournes, and Shalbourne). In 2000, The Wexcombe Team was enlarged to include the Bedwyns and some of the smaller parishes, and became known as the Savernake Team
